Math speed dating
I like that as well when it is a review with different types of problems, but use this method when I need the same type of problems to get progressively more complicated for the entire class.
Speed dating is a great review or practice game for all students. This is a great way to level work, at least initially.
Tell them they are the expert on their problem now, and they should never leave without it. Then set them up in two rows, each one across from the other.
At first glance, I may seem to be a pretty run of the mill kind of guy with a pretty run of the mill kind of family.Missing three days of school due to the snow and ice really threw off my plans for Algebra 2. But, I had to spend the first four days of the new semester finishing up our logarithm unit. This surprised me because my Algebra 2 students LOVED them last year.I had hoped to get through logarithms before Christmas Break. This might have had something to do with the fact that I chose to introduce them on a day that most students thought we should have been out of school.I usually have the students put everything away and clear off all of the tables. Then, I have them put their bookbags against the walls so everyone can move around the room more easily. I also tell them to be a good date by talking and helping each other out.
